Even though 'techies' working in Boston are paid less than their counter parts in D.C. Seattle, Washington, New York and even the national average they may still have a higher standard of living. That's because those making the big bucks in those other major cities also pay big bucks to live there.
Tech grads from Universities in the Boston area may be well advised to stick around and seek employment there. The lure of high wages can have it's downside as is illustrated in the stats. Still taking upwards of $17,000 less pay per year is a tough one to swallow.
